1. Philharmonic Concert

The first Philharmonic Concert of the 2022/23 concert season on October 2 and 4 will kick off the 195th Philharmonic Concert Season of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra. The program includes Gustav Mahler's 6th Symphony. Music Director Kent Nagano will take the podium in the Great Hall of the Elbphilharmonie.


Season opening

For the opening of the season of the Hamburg State Opera and the Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier, the Philharmonic State Orchestra naturally accompanied the performances again this year. It began on September 17 with the premiere of Bizet's opera "Carmen", followed on September 18 by the revival of the John Neumeier ballet "Third Symphony by Gustav Mahler". More ...


"Spirit of the Moon" (in Japan only)

Kent Nagano and the members of Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg collaborated with legendary Noh actor, Akihiro Yamamoto and his theatre members at Yamamoto Noh Theatre in Osaka on September 12th. This recorded performance can be watched on eplus website. This video is only available in Japan for a week between September 22nd to 28th. The production called Spirit of the Moon is a collaboration work of new Noh play based on a story of Japanese folk tale Moon Rabbit and music of Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire conducted by Kent Nagano. New Concert season 2022/23

The Philharmonic will start the new season with Kent Nagano in August 2022 with the Philharmonic Academy and concerts at the Elbphilharmonie, on the Rathausmarkt and at St. Michaelis. The highlights of the 195th concert season include the 6th symphony by Gustav Mahler, Jörg Widmann's oratorio ARCHE and the opening concert of the Hamburg International Music Festival 2023.
