The Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra launches its new concert season with a Philharmonic Academy on August 27/28, 2022, presenting Ein deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms at the Elbphilharmonie under Kent Nagano's baton. Nagano and the Philharmonic can be heard open-air on Hamburg's Rathausmarkt on September 1, 2022. Popular classics appear in the programmes led by guest conductors: Joana Mallwitz conducts Stravinsky's Le Sacre du printemps (November 20/21, 2022), Peter Ruzicka leads John Williams' Star Wars Suite (March 19/20, 2023) and Bertrand de Billy conducts Richard Strauss' Alpensymphonie (June 25/26, 2023). Further guest artists include Andrey Boreyko, Alexander Sladkowski, Evgeny Kissin, Liza Ferschtman, Joanna Freszel, Dénes Várjon, Reinhold Friedrich, Martina Filjak, Albrecht Mayer, Jean-Guihen Queyras and others.

Members of the Philharmonic State Orchestra perform chamber music at the Kleiner Saal of the Elbphilharmonie and in the series "Music and Science" (this year's theme: "A Changing World"). The children's and school programme includes the family and school concert "Der Mistkäfer" (May 29 and June 14/16, 2023), based on the fairy-tale The Beetle by Hans Christian Andersen.
